Project Description
Using existing plumbing issues in the kitchen as the impetus for the project, this client’s cute but small home needed to be renovated to enlarge both living and bedroom spaces. We designed a large, 2-story rear addition that includes these spaces along with renovating the whole home to better accommodate the homeowner’s needs.
The design replaced the tiny galley kitchen with substandard sized appliances with a spacious new space for cooking and entertaining. The oddly configured second floor with a rear bath that required walking through one bedroom to get to it was eliminated and, in its place, we added two new central bathrooms creating both a true en-suite primary bedroom on the front of the house and a cheerful and light-filled guest suite in the rear.
Rounding out the project, we reimagined both the garden and patio to be a warm and inviting space to enjoy peacefully. The exterior was meticulously returned to its original design based on an adjacent twin home with period trim and thoughtful details meeting the standards set forth by the local historic district. The final product happily exceeded the homeowner’s expectations.
